Human Resources ManagerKenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy seeks a Human Resources generalist with responsibilities in these areas: Human Resource Information System, employee relations and services, training and development in regard to safety, welfare, wellness, and health, benefits, compensation, organizational development, recruiting, on-boarding and exiting employees, and policy development.

The HR Manager will report to the CFO and work closely with the Business Office and School Administrators to help oversee 150 employees in a growing operation. Excellent organizational planning and excellent written and spoken communication skills are essential.

Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite of products as well as google applications is important. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field as well as 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources positions is required. Educational knowledge and school based experience is an asset for this position as is active affiliation with appropriate Human Resources networks and organizations.

Reading Interventionist, 5th-8th 

Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy seeks a middle school (5th-8th) Reading Interventionist with a Master’s degree in Special Education, Secondary/Elementary Education, and/or Curriculum & Instruction; Reading Specialist and/or ESL certification desirable; 3-5 years+ experience with small group academic support for elementary students with proven record of increasing literacy skills. A strong candidate will have an expertise in how to administer and analyze results from a wide-range of diagnostic assessments. Experience with instructional coaching and pushing into classrooms is an asset. Knowledge of the Response to Intervention process is essential. The Interventionist will work in collaboration with a wide array of teachers and school leaders. Familiarity with the Louisiana Student Standards and LEAP Assessment is required. Knowledge of Achieve 3000, iREADY, Lexia, and Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System is an asset. Interest in leading extracurricular student activities is a plus. Position available December 2017.

Middle School SPED Co-TeacherKenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy seeks a special education co-teacher with a job-related Associate or Bachelor’s degree. This individual will partner with the special education lead teacher in the general and special education class setting supporting children with special needs. The needs of these students in grades 6th-8th include academic and social issues related to hearing loss, vision loss, autism, health impairments, language disorders, or cognitive weaknesses. Experience with delivering a variety of accommodations in multiple settings is an asset. Ability to collaborate with various teachers and school leaders and to be a strong advocate for student needs is required. School-related experience is desired.

Substitute Teachers
Substitute teachers assist with classroom activities and student development on a temporary basis as needed. We conduct a substitute orientation quarterly for all new substitutes not in our system.
