WHAT IS A CHARTER SCHOOL?
A charter school is an independently run public school. Charter schools are granted greater flexibility in their operations. In return for this flexibility charter schools are expected to perform at a higher level of standard on both test scores and graduation rates.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?
Any Jefferson Parish resident is eligible to apply for admission.
IF I AM ON THE WAIT LIST, DO I HAVE TO RE-APPLY EVERY YEAR?
Yes. The wait list does not carry over from year to year, therefore, you must apply each year. Current students do not need to re-apply.
How do I know if my child qualifies as economically disadvantaged?

DO YOU TEST TO GAIN ADMISSION?
No. Discovery schools are open-enrollment schools and do not require testing to gain admission.
IS THERE A COST TO ATTEND YOUR SCHOOL?
Discovery Schools are tuition-free, like all public schools.
WHAT IS THE STUDENT-TEACHER RATIO AT DISCOVERY SCHOOLS?
The average class size is approximately 26 students.
MY CHILD HAS AN IEP, OR RECEIVES SPECIAL SERVICES; CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE HIS/HER NEEDS?
Yes. We accommodate all children and their individual learning needs.
