Nikisha Kelly, M.Ed.
Ms. Kelly received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisiana Lafayette in Apparel Design and Merchandising. Her calling to become an educator occurred while working as a warehouse manager when she realized her life had a greater purpose. Ms. Kelly earned her elementary education certification from Southern University in Baton Rouge and began working as a third grade teacher at Jackson Elementary School in Jackson, Louisiana. While serving as a teacher, Ms. Kelly continued to grow as an educator and leader. She earned her Master’s in Education Administration from Louisiana State University. After teaching for four years, Ms. Kelly became Assistant Principal of Clinton Elementary School. After 5 years, the school received honorable mention for academic growth from an F to a C. Ms. Kelly then served as an Academic Dean at Sylvanie Williams College Prep.
Ms. Kelly joined the Discovery family in 2015, serving as a Division Head and Dean of Lower School. Currently, Ms. Kelly serves as the Director of the Discovery Education Center at Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy. Ms. Kelly is currently in the process of earning her PhD from Louisiana State University.
Ms. Kelly is a fellow of the School Leadership Center of Greater New Orleans, Leadership Jefferson, and Leading Educators of New Orleans. She is a certified CASA advocate for Jefferson Parish and a member of Rose Hill Church of Baton Rouge.
During her free time, Ms. Kelly enjoys time with family and friends, traveling, and attending professional sporting events. She is a die-hard Saints fan and has a soul saturated in Louisiana culture.
