Head of School,  Dr. Patty Glaser is Honored with the Excellence in Government Award for Innovation from the Bureau of Governmental Research.

On August 5, the Bureau of Governmental Research (BGR) announced the recipients of the BGR Excellence in Government Awards 2020 honoring extraordinary local and state government employees and private citizens in the New Orleans area.

We are thrilled to announce our Head of School & CEO, Dr. Patty Glaser is the recipient of the Innovation Award, which recognizes public employees who have implemented creative solutions to pressing problems. Dr. Glaser was recognized for her work to secure construction financing for Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy and Dr. John Ochsner Discovery Health Sciences Academy.

A committee of BGR board members selected the BGR Excellence in Government Awards 2020 honorees through a competitive process. BGR solicited nominations from government officials and employees and the general public in four categories. The seven BGR honorees will be recognized in a one-hour program on WYES-TV that is scheduled to air September 18 and 20.

Dr. Glaser is the founding Head of School for Discovery Schools overseeing the operations of KDHSA and DJOD.  Dr. Glaser’s dynamic career includes more than 20 years of school leadership experience and 18 years as a speech language pathologist. Dr. Glaser, a proud native of New Orleans, earned a doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of New Orleans.  Prior to serving Discovery Schools, Dr. Glaser held leadership roles at Lusher Charter School and Holy Rosary Academy & High School.  Dr. Glaser is also the recipient of the Christopher Columbus Award for finding new solutions to community problems and a member of the University of New Orleans College of Education & Human Performance Hall of Fame.
