Discovery Schools is pleased to announce Christy Aymami has been named the Principal of Discovery Fusion Health Sciences Academy
Discovery Fusion Health Sciences Academy (Fusion) is a hybrid virtual school opening in August 2024 serving Louisiana students in grades 5th through 8th. The school has plans to expand to offer elementary and high school coursework.
“We are thrilled to have Ms. Aymami serve in her new role as Principal of Discovery Fusion, our first hybrid virtual Discovery school,” said Discovery Schools CEO Patty Glaser. “As Discovery’s Educational Technology Coordinator, Christy helped lead us through the transition to virtual learning in 2020. I am confident Christy will bring her educational technology expertise, and unique skillset to this role while continuing to embody the core values of our academically successful Discovery Schools.”
Ms. Aymami, a native and resident of Kenner, LA, is a trailblazing Educational Technology leader with a robust background in health sciences education. Earning a Master’s degree in Educational Technology Leadership from Northwestern State University, Ms. Aymami's academic journey also includes a Bachelor’s in Clinical Laboratory Science from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and a Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification from the University of New Orleans. With a diverse career spanning various roles within schools across the Greater New Orleans Metro Area, Ms. Aymami discovered her true calling at Discovery Schools, joining the team in 2015. Her devotion to fostering an educational environment that equips students for the rapidly evolving careers of the future, even those yet to emerge, perfectly mirrors her personal educational philosophy.
Ms. Aymami channels her enthusiasm for creativity, technology, and innovation into workshops, digital content creation, and speaking engagements. She frequently shares her insights at local, national, and international conferences, leaving an indelible mark on the realm of educational thought and practice.

Discovery Fusion is a program within Baton Rouge Ochsner Discovery a Type 2 charter, and students can enroll from anywhere in the state. Children of current Ochsner employees will comprise about half of the enrollment, while the other half will be open to the community. Fusion will be a tuition-free, hybrid-virtual public school and offer a health sciences-integrated curriculum with the flexibility to adapt to students' individual educational needs.
Discovery Fusion will be operated by Discovery Schools, implementing the structures and best practices that have contributed to the success of Kenner Discovery, Dr. John Ochsner Discovery in Jefferson Parish, LA, and Baton Rouge Ochsner Discovery in Baton Rouge, LA.
