Discovery Schools Celebrate Academic Excellence with School Performance Scores
Kenner Discovery Retains “A” Status
The Discovery Schools network is excited to announce the school letter grades for the 2024-2025 academic year. These ratings are part of the Louisiana Department of Education’s school accountability system, which evaluates school performance based on various factors, including student test scores, growth metrics, and overall achievements in key subject areas.
Our flagship school, Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy, has retained its “A” status in its overall school performance score and progress score. Dr. John Ochsner Discovery raised its SPS score by 2.6 points. It earned a “B” overall and an “A” in its progress score, indicating significant growth in moving students from basic to mastery level. Furthermore, both Kenner Discovery and Dr. John Ochsner Discovery have been recognized as “Top Gains Honorees,” a designation awarded to schools that demonstrate significant academic progress from one year to the next. This remarkable achievement highlights the dedication of our talented educators, the hard work of our students, and the ongoing support from parents and the community.
Baton Rouge Ochsner Discovery (BROD) received a grade of “C” and a progress score of “B” in its second year. The school has shown significant growth since its first year, increasing its enrollment by 73 percent in its second year. With a large influx of new students last year, we are excited to celebrate a “B” growth score, which reflects how much individual students have improved compared to their expected growth trajectory towards mastery. This result demonstrates that BROD has successfully encouraged students to achieve at higher levels.
