Impending Weather Watch - 9/2/2018
Due to the impending weather system currently brewing in the Gulf of Mexico, KDHSA administration is closely watching the weather forecast. We are in contact with local authorities and emergency management personnel. As always, our top priority is the safety of your child(ren). As the weather continues to develop and predictions change by the hour/day, a push message will be sent if needed with a detailed weather plan for Tuesday, September 4, 2018 and onward through the week if needed.
As of today, September 2, 2018, classes at all Discovery campuses will resume as planned after the Labor Day holiday on Tuesday, September 4, 2018.
If we decide to close or delay school openings; the KDHSA Admin Team will notify you. We do not always follow the JPPSS decision as they are making decisions for a large geographic area.
Please be on alert for email, text, app/website updates, or Facebook updates from the Admin Team.
With HEART,
KDHSA Admin Team
First - Fourth Grade Back to School Night, Wednesday, September 5, 2018, from 5:00 - 7:00
Dear Parent, Guardians, and Families,
We would like to invite you to our 6th Annual Lower School Back to School Night next Wednesday, Sept. 5th from 5:00 to 7:00pm. The earlier time was selected because there is a KDHSA football game at Muss Bertolino that evening at 7:00pm. Having an earlier start time will assist parents who have children in both Lower School and High School to have an opportunity to attend both events.
Our Back to School Night will start in the Cafeteria for 5:00 pm, where our faculty and staff will be introduced. Following the introduction, parents will have the opportunity to visit with your child’s teacher and find out more about their daily activities and schedules. Parents and guardians may also visit with our co-curricular teams and learning resource center teachers and staff. At 7:00pm, our interventionists will hold a Title 1 parent meeting for our students in Reading and Math Interventions in the Cafeteria. The evening will end promptly at 7:30pm.

1:1 Chromebook Issue with Power Outage
Good evening! Due to the power outage at Maine Campus today, students will not be able to access internet on the Chromebooks, even when logged into home internet, as it pings back through our web filter that is located on Maine Campus. Teachers have been notified of this issue. When power to Maine has been restored, and internet connectivity resumes, students will be able to access as normal. Thank you for your patience!
IT Team
Maine Campus has been impacted by a power outage in buildings 100, 200, and 300. We are without phones, internet, electricity, air-conditioning and PA system, therefore, we are dismissing Maine campus students early. We have received confirmation from Entergy that the power will not be restored for 3 hours. We are dismissing all students in grades 1st-8th starting now and will continue until all students are picked up. Community Works Aftercare is cancelled.
Rivertown students enrolled in Community Works will not be bused to Maine campus and should be picked up at Rivertown campus. The bus students from Rivertown will be brought to Maine campus.
The buses will depart at normal time. The bus students will relocate to an air-conditioned building until regular dismissal.
Thank you for cooperation.

Oops!
Due to an error, some 5th/6th Grade Chromebooks were kept at school that should have gone home with students. This affected anyone who had a payment plan set up through Gulf Coast prior to August 15th. This issue will be corrected and the students will be able to take home the Chromebooks starting tomorrow, IF they have turned in their Chromebook Agreement AND have an approved case. I apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience through this process.
