We are off for another exciting year. While this year poses many challenges, we appreciate you working with us to make this an exceptional learning experience for your children. When 1st - 4th grade students, receiving instruction in class, attend on either Wednesday, August 5th or Thursday, August 6th for testing:
Please use the Maine Avenue horseshoe for carpool arrival.
Students will have a temperature check before getting out of their vehicle.
Students must be dressed in their uniform.
Students should wear a mask and maintain 6 feet of distance while walking to their assigned class.
Students should bring 2 sharpened pencils in a baggie labeled with the student’s name, grade, and pod letter.
Students should arrive and leave at their scheduled times.
Students should not bring school supplies until August 10th or 11th.
The Carpool map below will only be used for Aug. 5th and 6th. A different map will be sent for use the remainder of the year.
Thanks for being our partners in educating your children,

As you know, we have been in professional development all week learning new tips and tricks to navigate these socially and physically distant times.
Please check out the Flipgrid our faculty and staff have created to share what they are most excited about for the upcoming school year. Be sure to check back, as many will be continually adding to this Flipgrid feed. You will notice familiar faces, as well as new faces!

Last chance to order school supplies through School Tool Box to receive them before the first day of school; however, this is not the last chance to place an order. If you do place an order after tomorrow and do not receive the supply box prior to the first day of school, please do not worry.

Important Message:
On 7-6-2020, an important message from Dr. Glaser was sent via email AND posted on the website (see below for link). If you are one of the 800 families who have not yet filled out either the ON CAMPUS LEARNING opt in form or the ONLINE LEARNING opt in form (which is a different form than the interest survey sent a few weeks prior), please be sure to do this ASAP. This information is crucial to planning in the next two weeks.

Dear Discovery Families, we are in the process of updating the SchoolToolBox.com school supplies online ordering process. All Discovery and Ochsner families can select the “Kenner Discovery Schools and DJOD” as the school name in the blank selection space. Grades 1st - 8th are the same lists for all Kenner/Discovery/Ochsner students. The DJOD Kindergarten will be on the Rivertown Campus and can select the corresponding supply list for that campus. The “Kenner” Discovery Kindergarten will be on Maine Ave. Campus and can select the corresponding supply list for that campus. High School students should be prepared to begin school with all supplies on the “High School General Supplies” list; additionally, when you receive your class schedule, you will know the class/teacher specific school supplies required for those classes/teachers and can purchase those items at that time. Please continue check school correspondence for further updates.

Discovery Parents and Guardians,
We hope that you are enjoying the first days of summer break. During this time away from school, we are encouraging all students to read for leisure. Please see the attached link to find lists of books, on your child's reading level, that he/she would like to read for enjoyment. Students will be discussing those books at Morning Meeting with their class in August.
