Thursday, December 14th - OPENING SHOW. Show starts at 7:00pm.
Friday, December 15th - There will be two shows in the morning for the middle and lower schools (Students Only). First show starts at approximately 9:00am. There is no night performance on this date.
Saturday, December 16th - Lower School Sing-A-Long Concert in the Cafeteria at 5:30pm
Saturday, December 16th - A Midsummer Night's Dream, closing show. Show starts at 7:00pm.
Suggested Donation (for A Midsummer Night's Dream only) - $10.00 per family.

Attention Parents of Rivertown Aftercare Students:
All Rivertwon Aftercare students should be picked up at the Rivertown campus at 2:15. We will not be busing Rivertown aftercare students to Maine Avenue. Please follow the Rivertown carpool route.
*****Bus students will still be transferred to Maine Avenue. Please be at your child's regular bus stop.

All carpool drivers must have the 8 X 11 yellow placards with their last name hanging from the rearview mirror. If you did NOT get you placard on Family Science Day please see Crissy in the front office.

KDHSA Families: Due to wintry weather and potential for dangerous driving conditions, we are closing all three school campuses at 2:15pm. Our dismissal carpool will begin at 2:15. Please use the usual carpool routes. Bus students will be loaded on to buses at that time also.
Community Works (After Care) will also close today due to worsening road conditions.
We are giving you a 2 hour window to make arrangements to pick up your child(ren) an hour early due to expected worsening road conditions.
We want our students and faculty home safely before road conditions worsen with the combination of the continued wintery mix and dropping temperatures.
Thank you for your cooperation in this unusual circumstance. We make decisions with your child's safety in mind.

Black and Gold Thursday!
On Thursday, December 7, 2017, students and staff will have the opportunity to show support for the New Orleans Saints. The funds collected will be used to support our school's positive behavior intervention and supports (PBIS) program.
If a student donates $1, he/she will be allowed to wear a Black, Gold, or White Saints jersey or Saints shirt along with their uniform bottom. For Pre-K/K girls, the jersey or shirt can be worn over the uniform dress. All students must wear their normal uniform bottoms. (NO tank tops, spaghetti straps, or sleeveless shirts are allowed.) Thanks for your support.
KDHSA Uniforms for Cold Weather Days
Cooler weather is here. In accordance with our uniform policy, students must be in complete uniform daily. Students may wear the following items listed below:
Girls:
White, navy, or black tights may be worn under the smock dress, jumper, or skirt.
Only the official Kenner Discovery navy sweat pants may be worn under the smock dress, jumper, or skirt. No others are allowed.
On PE days only, girls in PreK - 4th grade may wear the PE uniform of the official KDHSA navy sweat pants and the official KDHSA gray t-shirt. Girls in 5th - 9th grades must bring PE clothes and change or wear the official KDHSA sweat pants under their skirt.
Students may wear only the official white long sleeve turtleneck with the KD monogram under the uniform blouse.
Only the official KDHSA royal blue sweatshirt, cardigan, or pullover sweater may be worn over the uniform shirt or PE shirt (for PE days). No other sweatshirts or sweaters are allowed.
Coats or jackets may be worn only outside over the uniform when the weather is very cold.
Boys:

Vintage Campus: Tomorrow, 12/6/17, HS students are invited to wear a college or university shirt of choice with their normal uniform bottom, socks, and shoes for FREE ($0) as we celebrate College Shirt Day and Early Dismissal!

Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy seeks a middle school (5th-8th) Reading Interventionist with a Master’s degree in Special Education, Secondary/Elementary Education, and/or Curriculum & Instruction; Reading Specialist and/or ESL certification desirable; 3-5 years+ experience with small group academic support for elementary students with proven record of increasing literacy skills. A strong candidate will have an expertise in how to administer and analyze results from a wide-range of diagnostic assessments. Experience with instructional coaching and pushing into classrooms is an asset. Knowledge of the Response to Intervention process is essential. The Interventionist will work in collaboration with a wide array of teachers and school leaders. Familiarity with the Louisiana Student Standards and LEAP Assessment is required. Knowledge of Achieve 3000, iREADY, Lexia, and Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System is an asset. Interest in leading extracurricular student activities is a plus. Position available December 2017.

KDHSA will participate in a little friendly competition this holiday season in order to help support a wonderful cause! Please see the attached flyer for more details.
On Thursday, December 14th and Saturday, December 16th at 7 PM the KDHSA Theatre Department will be performing William Shakespeare's, A Midsummer Night's Dream under the 600 Pavilion. There is a $10 per family suggested donation.

KDHSA Vintage Campus PBIS Fun Friday Snack--Pizza!! Tomorrow, November 17th. Students can buy pizza for $2/slice. Lemonade and/or water will be sold for $0.50. All proceeds will be used for future PBIS events and activities. Students can pre-order pizza slices by visiting the link and completing the form sent to them via email yesterday.
KDHSA Families:
All 4th - 8th grade students are invited to the New Orleans Bowl on Saturday, Dec 16th for the Science of Football clinic. The clinic will take place before the game and all participants will be recognized at halftime on the field. There will be a great mix of STEM in football and lots of fun for the kids.
